To be honest, I've never been much of a hot chocolate fan until my daughter started making it this way. At first I would only say yes to a cup because she made it, but I now find myself asking for seconds. This homemade hot chocolate made with four simple ingredients has just the right balance of sweetness and richness.
We like sticking to simple, whole foods in our home as much as possible so the only ingredients used are whole milk (raw milk straight from the farm is our preference), organic maple syrup, organic cacao powder (not to be confused with cocoa powder) and pure vanilla extract.
Slowly heat 36 oz. of milk in a pot on the stove, add 3 Tbsp. Cacao Powder, whisk until fully dissolved. Add 1 1/2 Tbsp. of maple syrup and 2 tsp of vanilla. Mix until fully combined. This makes about six 6 ounce servings which is the perfect treat for our family of six on a cold winter day. For serving a larger group, multiply this recipe and add it to a crockpot to keep warm.
We hope you enjoy!
Love,
Sara and Taylen
